I took my daughters 7 and 9 swimming here from the first time and was disappointed with the rude staff. First off I called ahead to confirm the family swim schedule I was told that they couldn’t confirmed the family swim times because I was coming at the beginning of the month and the schedules can change monthly. So I kind of just had to show up and see what happens. And when we do finally get checked in and out to the pool a teenage boy lifeguard instantly starts spouting off rules to me without even a greeting. Tells me regardless of my daughters swim levels I am not allowed to let them swim away from me more than an arm length. Even though I see young kids ever were swimming alone and jumping in and out of the pool horse playing. Overall very rude when speaking. When we became cold we go in the hot tub (which is colder then the baths at home we take) knowing kids need to be at least seven to go in. The same boy then approached us to ask the girls ages, after I said 7 and 9 he began to argue with me not believing even my 9 year was old enough to go in. There were other kids in the hot tub who said they were seven and he didn’t argued with them. Even though I was the only adult accompanying children in the hot tub others were alone. I feel this possibly has something to do with discrimination as I look different than all the other people at the pool that day. I will say I have no problem being informed of the rules and expected to follow them but not being treated the same as everyone else and being accused of being a liar in front of my kids I do have a problem with. Won’t be going back.

My four year old had a few months of private lessons at the YMCA. They were awful. He learned more in one 30 minute lesson at True Grit than he did in months at the YMCA. The teenage instructor literally was throwing rubber duckies in the wadding pool and having my 4.5 yo walk around and pick them up. Waste of money.

I stopped in to ask about drop in cost to swim since my regular swimming pool is closed. I was told the drop in was $12.00 dollars. A day later I drove the 10 miles to swim and after taking a lot of personal information and my picture I was told my senior rate was $25.00 dollars. Rude and very poor community service.
They were a lot nicer when they were looking for my money to build this facility.

The Y has a summer program at Twin City Elementary. I was over there yesterday about 6 PM after all the kids had left and was absolutely disgusted in the way the campus was left. Potato chips, potato chip wrappers, potato chip containers, fruit snacks, empty boxes that had beverages, all left out there. Not right the janitors have to clean up after a these kids. What wrong with people running this program that they don’t make sure that the kids clean up after themselves and what the hell’s wrong with parents that don’t teach their kids to clean up after themselves? Absolutely disgusting, no respect at all.
The school district should not allow the Y to use their property if they’re going to leave it so messy.

I was considering rejoining, but not after how I was treated rudely by the staff member on duty after I asked what the process was for rejoining and asked what the process was to finding out if I was eligible for financial assistance as my financial situation had changed. She just handed me the paperwork and told bring it back with me when I was ready to rejoin. This is definitely the kind of environment I want to go and be working out in! At this point I'm considering just giving up and figuring things out on my own, after I've been treated so rudely when I've gone into gyms to get information about joining, just simply because I'm wearing a mask to keep myself and others around me safe. I definitely didn't expect being treated that way by a staff member at the YMCA, especially since they are supposed to be about being inclusive to everyone!
